Lionsgate Confirmes Rachel Zegler as Lead Role in 'Hunger Games' Prequel

Rachel Zegler has been cast as Lucy Gray Baird in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes – Arriving in theaters November 2023.
Speculation grew this weekend that the 21-year-old West Side Story star had landed the role after an eagle-eyed fan deciphered a tweet from the starlet.
On Tuesday morning Lionsgate confirmed via Variety that Rachel has indeed won the role of Lucy in the prequel film directed by Francis Lawrence, who helmed three of the four original Hunger Games movies.
The film follows a young Coriolanus Snow as he mentors and develops feelings for the female District 12 tribute during the 10th Hunger Games. Suzanne Collins, the author behind the original Hunger Games novels, published the book The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes in 2020.
Deb Zane and Dylan Jury, spearheaded the casting search for the perfect Lucy Gray.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 17, 2023, with production starting later this year.
