December 22, 2020

Dr. Anthony Fauci has received the new Covid-19 vaccine by Moderna.

The 79 year old director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is one of the first public figures to be vaccinated. Moderna's vaccine was approved for use shortly after Pfizer’s vaccine was approved.

Since US vaccinations began last week, more than 4.6 million doses have been delivered, and about 614,000 have been administered, the CDC says.

According to CNN, the first round was given to those in assisted living facilities, federal officials and health care workers like Dr. Joseph Varon was one of the first to get the Moderna vaccine, which was authorized for emergency use Friday.

The first doses of Moderna's vaccine were sent to more than 3,500 sites, compared to about 600 for Pfizer's. Almost 8 million doses from Moderna and Pfizer will be distributed this week.
