Charlotte Awbery quickly rose to fame when a video of her covering Lady Gaga’s “Shallow” in a London subway station went viral with millions of views. Awbery appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show today (Feb 26) wearing a chic white suit and Farrah Fawcett worthy hair to perform her rendition of “Shallow” and discuss her whirlwind experience. The singer sat down with Ellen for an interview and explained that she has been performing for the past 15 years in pubs, bars, weddings and restaurants. Her performance on Ellen received a standing ovation from a shook audience.
She explained “My dad always said to me, ‘Wherever you are, just always sing. Never give up.’ He’s right.” Awbery also confirmed on Ellen that the subway performance was 100% impromptu and not staged.
