Actor, Matthew McConaughey is taking the wheel in Apple TV+’s pulse-pounding upcoming thriller The Lost Bus, and the newly released trailer has fans gripped from the first frame.

Unveiled Tuesday morning, the official trailer introduces McConaughey as a father whose life turns into a high-stakes nightmare when his children are among a group of students who mysteriously vanish aboard a school bus. Described as a “gripping and emotional journey,” the film centers on his character’s desperate attempt to uncover the truth, battling both time and bureaucracy in the process.

Set to premiere on October 18, The Lost Bus comes from the creative team of Chernobyl and The Crown, promising both edge-of-your-seat suspense and grounded emotional realism. McConaughey, who also serves as a producer, is joined by an ensemble cast including Lupita Nyong’o, Scoot McNairy, and emerging star Maceo Smedley.

In classic Apple TV+ fashion, the production value is sleek, cinematic, and rich in atmosphere. The trailer teases haunting visuals of empty roads, flashbacks of terrified children, and McConaughey’s tortured face as he spirals through fear, determination, and rage.

Apple TV+ is clearly banking on The Lost Bus to be a major fall event, slotting it strategically in mid-October just ahead of awards season chatter. McConaughey has kept a relatively low profile in recent years, choosing roles carefully and often producing or narrating content on his own terms. His return to a major dramatic lead feels like a moment—one that fans and critics alike are eager to witness.
