TESLA by Michael Almereyda Drops First Trailer on Nikola Tesla's Real Birthday

IFC Films celebrated Nikola Tesla’s birthday on Friday (July 10) by dropping the first trailer for the new biopic film, 'Tesla' written and directed by Michael Almereyda.



The film made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2020, where it won the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize. The movie stars Ethan Hawke as inventor Nikola Tesla, whose discoveries in wireless energy would change the world as we know it.


The storyline follows the life of Tesla in his uphill battle to bring his revolutionary electrical system to fruition in the face of skeptical patrons and fellow inventor and rival, Thomas Edison, played by Kyle MacLachlan.


Another thread traces Tesla’s sidewinding courtship of financial titan J.P. Morgan (Donnie Keshawarz), whose daughter Anne (Eve Hewson) takes a more than casual interest in the inventor. Anne analyzes and presents the story as it unfolds, offering a modern voice to this scientific period drama which.

Also starring in Tesla are Jim Gaffigan, Hannah Gross, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Tesla is aiming for a theatrical and on-demand release on August 21.
