After years of speculation and subtle teases, Nintendo has officially unveiled and launched the Nintendo Switch 2 — the next generation of its massively successful hybrid console. Fans around the world finally got their hands on the upgraded system, and it’s already making waves with enhanced graphics, next-gen performance, and some jaw-dropping exclusive titles.

The Switch 2 features a custom NVIDIA processor that delivers significantly improved performance and visuals, supporting 4K resolution in docked mode and a stunning 1080p OLED touchscreen when used portably. Nintendo has maintained the hybrid design fans love, but added refined ergonomics, magnetic Joy-Con upgrades, and a more powerful battery life, promising up to 9 hours of uninterrupted gameplay.

Perhaps most exciting is the backward compatibility with the original Switch library, ensuring fans can carry their favorite titles forward. But it’s the new exclusives — including The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of the Past and Mario Kart X — that are fueling the Switch 2’s blockbuster launch.

The system launched globally on June 4, 2025, with a starting price of $449 for the base model and $549 for the “Pro” version, which includes additional internal storage and enhanced performance for select games. Retailers reported day-one sellouts, and Nintendo has already confirmed more units are being shipped throughout the summer.

With the Switch 2, Nintendo is once again proving why it dominates the gaming landscape — blending innovation with nostalgia to deliver a console experience like no other.
