At Netflix's recent Tudum event, Guillermo del Toro unveiled the first teaser trailer for his highly anticipated adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. This gothic reimagining promises to delve deep into the emotional and tragic aspects of the classic tale.

Oscar Isaac stars as Dr. Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant yet egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both creator and creation . Jacob Elordi portrays the Creature, a role that was originally intended for Andrew Garfield . The film also features Mia Goth as Elizabeth Lavenza, Victor's fiancée, and Christoph Waltz as Harlander.

The teaser trailer, begins with Dr. Frankenstein addressing a medical lecture hall, hinting at the scientific ambition that drives his experiments. The Creature, portrayed by Elordi, is shown in various scenes, including moments of solitude and interaction with Elizabeth, highlighting the tragic nature of his existence.

Guillermo del Toro has long expressed his admiration for Shelley's novel, describing it as his favorite book of all time. He has emphasized that this adaptation is not just a horror story but a deeply emotional narrative exploring themes of creation, responsibility, and the consequences of unchecked ambition .

The film is set to premiere on Netflix in November 2025.
