On Friday (July 10) GRAMMY nominated Hillsong Young & Free, announced the release of two brand new singles, “World Outside Your Window” and “As I Am.”
In a year filled with heartbreak, darkness, and pain, Christian youth group Hillsong Young & Free is a beacon of hope for many fans. Alongside these and uplifting tracks, the group also released two new music videos featuring a combination of studio and live recordings.
Hillsong Young & Free is a youth movement stemming from the world-renown Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia. The church is hailed as a staple for many celebs including, Justin Bieber, Kevin Durant, and Chris Pratt.
Youth pastors Laura and Peter Toggs are the pioneers of Hillsong Young & Free. Laura had this to say about the cultural impact of “As I Am”:
“Verna Myers says 'Diversity is being invited to the party, inclusion is being asked to dance'. We’ve been waiting a couple years for the right time to release ‘As I Am’ and we believe this is a timely song for the beautiful reality of Gods inclusive nature and diverse creation. We’re ALL welcome to sit at the table of the Lord... and as the ‘Young & Free’ team, we choose to stand in solidarity and say that ‘Black Lives Matter.’ May this song minister to those who are in pain right now and exhort us all to fight for equality, just as Jesus has made a way for every single one of us.”
