Miley Cyrus, The Struts, Andrew Watt, Dennis Quaid and more joined Robby Krieger to perform the Doors classic hits at the 50th Anniversary Celebration for the Doors’ ‘Morrison Hotel’ at the Sunset Marquis Hotel in West Hollywood. The event also honored famed music photographer, Henry Diltz during LA's Oscar weekend on Feb. 8, 2020.
The celebration marked 50 years since the Doors’ fifth studio album, Morrison Hotel, was released by Elektra Records on February, 8,1970. The event kicked off with an all-star 2 hour pool-side set headed by Robby Krieger of the Doors and the Tangiers Blues Band. The Sunset Marquis Hotel lobby was packed with leather clad partygoers. The event brought out Hollywood’s who’s who of the music industry and turned out to be one of the hottest Oscar 2020 pre-parties of the weekend.
Legendary guest performances included; Dennis Quaid singing “L.A. Woman” as Krieger sang backup vocals; The Struts’ singer Luke Spiller, who delivered an intense version of “Riders of the Storm.” Michael Bolton sang his rendition of "Light My Fire" while Miley Cyrus covered, "Roadhouse Blues."
The star-studded crowd also came out to honor iconic rock-and-roll photographer, Henry Diltz’s legacy and extraordinary body of work with the Morrison Hotel Gallery. The gallery displayed over 45 rare prints spanning back decades from Diltz’s archives along with other renowned photographers work. Diltz is co-owner of MHG which is located in the Sunset Marquis Hotel, West Hollywood. The gallery represents over 125 of the world’s finest music photographers.
Guests included Henry Rollins, Sebastian Bach of Skid Row; Linda Ramone & J. D. King, Tommy Lee, Jesse Hughes from Eagles of Death Metal, Neil Turbin of Anthrax, Badflower, Gary Clark, Jr., Nicole Atkins, Slim Jim Phantom, guitarist Jimmy Vivino, and many many more. Timothy White and John Varvatos were the evening’s hosts while Jack Daniels kept the shots of whiskey flowin throughout the night.
