On Monday, MGM Studios released new 'No Time To Die' featurette to its YouTube channel starring Oscar winner Rami Malek as Bond villain, Safin.
Safin’s role remains shrouded in mystery in terms of motive. Many 007 fans have theorized that Malek’s character may actually be the Dr. No character, an infamous "Bond" villain from the original 1962 film. Dr. No was a criminal scientist who was handicapped from radiation exposure which could be a possible parallel between Malek’s character whose face is marred in 'No Time To Die.'
The original James Bond is the brainchild of Ian Fleming, a former naval intelligence officer-turned-author who wrote 14 books featuring the British spy and ladies man. The first film adaptation of one of Fleming’s novels, the Eon Productions release “Dr. No” (1962), was a monster hit that made a star of leading man Sean Connery, who played the role of Agent 007 six additional times.
"Bond (Daniel Craig) has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology."
'No Time To Die' will be Daniel Craig's fifth and final run as 007. “Captain Marvel” actress Lashana Lynch will play Nomi, the first Black female 007 agent. Other cast members include Ana de Armas, "Westworld" star Jeffrey Wright, Christopher Waltz, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, and Ben Whishaw.
The film is set to debut in theaters on November 20.
